About VEC, design office for dies, fixtures and automation

We are a specialised design partner and process optimiser for production equipment, plants and automation. The office is run by Gerald Vogt, who brings more than 20 years of practical experience in tool and equipment making.

A design engineer who knows the shop floor

The path did not start at the CAD workstation but in the workshop. That experience produces designs that can be machined, assembled, adjusted and repaired, instead of solutions that only work on screen.

VEC works as an extension of your design team or takes on die, fixture and automation projects end to end. Design is done in Creo Parametric, with handover additionally as STEP, DXF and PDF so your tool room can continue without friction.

Collaboration is deliberately lean: one fixed contact person, direct coordination with your production team and documented milestones instead of departmental chains.

What VEC stands for

Manufacturing-oriented

Every layout is tested against the question of how it will be produced, assembled and repaired if something goes wrong.

Honest assessment

If a concept does not hold up or the volume does not justify the effort, you hear it before the project starts, not during tryout.

Confidential

NDA before the first data set, anonymised references and no sharing of part data with third parties.

Independent

No ties to a tool room or supplier, the solution follows your production, not someone else's capacity.

Experience and tools

  • More than 20 years in tool, fixture and production equipment making
  • Design of progressive, fine blanking, bending and forming dies
  • Clamping, welding, milling and inspection fixtures, pneumatically and hydraulically supported
  • Small automation solutions, part feeders and semi-automatic inspection stations
  • 3D design in Creo Parametric, data handover as STEP, DXF and PDF
  • Technical project management between customer, tool room and production

How we work

We always start with the part, not the die: geometry, material, tolerances and volume determine which concept holds. Only then do strip layout, station sequence or fixture principle take shape, in a way that can be produced economically in your plant.

We design for maintenance from the start. Wear parts have to be accessible, regrinding must not trigger a chain reaction, and standard parts should stay available at short notice. These details decide tool life and downtime cost more than any later optimisation.

And we speak plainly. If a concept fails on sheet thickness, installation space or volume, we say so early, with an alternative instead of a refusal.

Three ways of working together

Extension of your design team

We work to your design guidelines, standard parts catalogues and naming conventions and deliver data sets that slot straight into your filing system.

Design & engineering

Full project responsibility

From feasibility review to first article approval, including coordination with tool room, suppliers and your production team.

Process optimisation & project management

Targeted support

Strip layout, feasibility review, die analysis or a single fixture, clearly scoped packages without a framework contract.
